July 30: College

There are many different types of Colleges and Universities. Lets be honest, do you think that Columbia College Chicago would have been a serious choice if you had been like a top student in your class and had the oppurtunity to go to an Ivy Leauge College. The college came to your house and told you that they wanted you to come to their college. Would you go to the college, or would you still want to come to Columbia College Chicago?

  1. When I was a freshman I was convinced that I was going to go to Columbia as a photography major. But then i decided against it and decided I wanted to go to DePaul. I couldn't get into DePaul and my only option besides a community college was Columbia. Even if I did get accepted into DePaul I probably would have regretted not coming here. I didn't expect Columbia to be like this but when I got here I'm really glad that I ended up coming here.

  2. Honstly if they had stuff i liked at the other school i might go. Columbia has every thing i want, and every thing i worked with in high school. One of the good thing is since i'm going into broadcasting, and im going here, there's all ways a lot of stuff to film in chicago

  3. I have always had my mind set on going to Columbia. I didn't really consider any other colleges. Maybe I looked at a couple just out of curiosity. But really when it came down to it I wasn't going anywhere other than here. I think Columbia is the perfect school for me. Other colleges just didn't interest me as much. Ivy League schools sound prestigous and all but really I'm not out for going to some school like that.

I think Columbia is the way to go. What about everyone else?

  4. Alot of people view Columbia as a decent school for some reason although Columbia is very serious about their academics as well as the many majors they provide. I look at Ivy Leauge as being a choice for furture doctors and lawers, something I'm not really interested in. I would still pick columbia over an Ivy League school anyday because of my goals in life and the school's history on helping students acheive their goal. Does anyone think differently?

  5. Honestly I probably wouldn't have been here. I would have rather been at a University where they offer sports I love doing. While I find now that Columbia is a wonderful school and I am so excited about attending in the fall I still would probably end up at a different college.

  7. Columbia is my choice, but if I had the oppurtunity than yes, I would take it and try to go to an ivy league school. But I dont think I am academically prepared for it. Unless they have a bridge program like columbia does so I can get a feel for the college than maybe i would consider.

  8. Regardless I would have chosen Columbia because it has been my dream school. I feel that this program has helped me improve academically. It is half way there and I feel like a winner, just because I've made it thru these two weeks; yet I still dont know if I am accepted or not. What makes you feel like a winner?

  9. I always knew I was coming to columbia but no if i got accepted to any of the other schools i wanted to go to then i probably would not be here. For two really different reasons 1. because my mother wanted me to go to another university 2. I probably would have got more money then i would have got to stay in the dorms.

  10. LETTY: you are a winner!!!!
If i have a certain goal that i can acheive and i actually do acheive it, it's like a weight off of my shoulder. I feel accomplished and that really makes me feel as if I'm a winner. I had to learn that in highschool nothing is handed to you. I have to go out there and find what will make my task harder. I learn better this way and this also teaches me alot of lessons.

  11. I like college that I am going to now. I just would rather to have gotten into a university. But I also still want to go to Columbia College. This school has many oppurtunities for me. But if I got the chance to go to a school other than Columbia, like Morehouse or Princeton, I would so go there. Does anyone feel the same?

  12. Knowing I am almost done with Bridge and I am doin great in all my classes makes me feel like a winner. I thought when this first started I might not pass and of course not be accepted to Columbia in the Fall. But I set positive goals for myself and I am getting positive results. So I consider myself a WINNER!!

  13. I wouldnt go to a university only because i would probally be placed in a closed environment. I love how Columbia provides different cultures and races to anyone who hasn't really dealt with different voices. You can go on into the world knowing that not only Black people exist and gays are really apart of the world. Whatever difference we have, it's not viewed as something low or unaccepted.

  14. this school has been my top pick since my freshman year. My dad always asked me what would I do if Columbia didn't accept me, I just knew I would get accepted. I didn't even apply to any other schools because I was so sure.

  15. I agree with k.o. the amount of diversity at this school is amazing. It's even better because everyone accepts everyone's differences. Here it is accepted to be diverse and that is what makes me enjoy it more than a standard university
