8/10 Question 2

Our lecture this afternoon is on "fact" and "faith." How do you interpret these terms? How many different interpretations can you think of? How do these terms relate to art and the process of making art?

  1. When I heard these terms I thought of how much of faith is fact. I also started to think about how after a while facts run out and you simply have to rely on your faith. I mostly think of religion when I hear this. I think that art is what you want to see. People create art to express what they feel. I do not think art is a fact because it is an opinion. Art is about faith and how much you can connect your ideas to people.

  2. Fact and Faith are altogether completely different and exactly the same. Fact is something that is true. Faith is something that you believe. But when you have faith in something you believe that it is a fact. However you can have faith in something without completely knowing that it is fact or not. For example i have faith in God however i have never seen God in my life but i know for a fact that their is a God.I dont really know how these terms relate to art and the process of making it. So i am pretty interested in todays lecture.

  3. i see fact as something to do that is scientifically proven. not written by someone. something that has evidence...not just hear say. and i translate faith as something to do with having a strong belief about something. for fact i can only see the one i have already stated. but for faith there can be numerous.
    religion.
    jesus.
    hope.
    strength.
anything that a person can see as uplifting

  4. Fact and faith are really two different terms that seem to always be debated. It causes confrontations most of the time and it is really hard to explain their exsitence with one another. I cant really come up with a conclusion that relates the two terms with art except for the case that art represents alot of controversial things.

  6. I honestly see fact and faith as two different words with two different meanings. I hear faith and automatically think that it focuses on more what someone believes in. While fact focuses more on what has been taken, analyzed and proven to either be correct or incorrect making it a fact or fiction. For example it is fact that the body rottens after death, however it is my faith that assures me my soul leaves my body and moves on to another place set for me to continue on after death. I find that I am seriously interested in what this lecture is talking about because it's a topic that so many different people have opinions on.

  7. Faith is something you as a person believe in. It is not 100% true regardless how much you believe it because it has not been proven. Fact is 100% true and it has been proven. Its that easy. They are completely different things.

  8. I think its going to be something that will make some people upset, but overall I'm sure it's going to be about how much faith and fact relate and agree or contradict each other

  9. When i think about faith and fact. I think about words that have definite meanings. Peopel can confuse these two words often. Fact is more straight foward, and faith is one having belief.
