I learned that sometimes you are put in positions where information is give to you and it is quite boring or not to your liking but you have to realize that everything has a purpose. You have to be serious about what you're focusing on to get an understanding. You can't go into a place with a negative attitude and expect a positive outcome. You set out for what you hope to obtain.
I've learned a lot in these few short weeks but I think the best thing I've learned is just about the college environment in general. Its a total change from high school.
I agree with Kelz the most valuable thing i have found is friendship. Again i just love how different we all are and how well we mesh together despite our differences.
The most valuable thing I've learned in the bridge program is that it doesn't pay to be shy. It's also that college is totally different from high school. And I've met people here that I'll never forget even after I graduate.
I didn't really quite think of it that way. But I do value the friendships I have with you guys. I love you all {tears}. Everyone is so different that it almost seems like we should make history for being so close together.
I've learned to believe in myself. I learned how the College life will be at Columbia and I learned what I will have to do in order to survive in the classes that I chose. I learned that it wont be easy and I cant be lazy. I also learned that this is an awesome oppurtunity for me being here.
I think I've learned to have alot of self discipline, whenever my parents were in my face about stuff I never did it, but now when theyre not around its kinda like hmm maybe should do my homework or clean my room
Kurt I so agree. I was late like almost all the time in high school. I am so lazy when it comes to getting up in the up early, so I found it hard to be at school on time if no one is pushing me to get up and get ready. I learned I am pretty much alone in college. I have a roomate but I'm sure they won't take on responsiblity to wake me up every morning.
I've learned how to manage time as well. I mean its still summer time so you need to go out and see your friends and what not. I use to put everything off until the very last second. Now I do my homework as soon as possible so I have the rest of the night to do what I want to do. I also have made it a point to get to the train station early every morning so that I can be to class early because I use to be in a hurry every single day to class in high school.
Im not even gone lie Kat and Kristin low key as made me a better writer. I learned how to be more consise in my writing. I learned how to outline my papers better also. Overall bridge as been very helpful to me gracias.
Ok i didnt think about it in that sense but i did learn alot like Mike said time management, is a huge skill i picked up. Because i know those journals we had to do if i was back in high school i would have absolutely waited til the last minute and turned them all in when on thursday.
I love to push myself to the extreme. Like today i was actually upset that i received a check instead of a check plus. However i know that that was my fault and i could have gotten it. In high school i would never have cared just so i passed but nnow i know that i am a good student and i know that i will push myself to the extreme to acheive goals.
During bridge I became a better reader, writer and thinker. I became a better writer, and my work projected my improvement. I still need to improve but now I know that it's possble. I learned that you should never let pressure get to you, because if you do you will take the anger inside and do the dummest things. You will regret the actions taken, and in some cases there will be no way out. I saw studens come and go, and I'm sad but I learned to never stop trying. Once you stop trying you have let go of your dream.
3. Questions must have some connection to Bridge. For example, they can deal with your books, your writing assignment, a lecture, a museum visit, a class discussion, etc.
I am still learning everyday but it has to be the skills we learn in order to bridge the blank from highschool to college.
