Million Bones 8/05

We got introduced to a project that we have to participate in and have no say in whether we do it or not. The Million Bones project is for a really great cause but how do you really feel about it?

  1. Why do we HAVE to do it? I don't get it. Like sure its for a really great cause but what if I don't want to make a bone? Or better yet what if I don't want to give five of MY dollars to this cause? I worked hard for that five bucks! I think its for a great cause and maybe if I wasn't being forced to do it I'd consider enjoying myself with the project. I don't like the thought of it at all.

  2. I feel that it's a little weird. Make bonses just for them to be dumped in a spot. I still dont get any idea what we have to do for it. All i got from it is that we have to make bones out of stuff, and they get dumped. Im really confused about it still.

  3. i agree the project is for a great cause, but it just makes me not want to participate because i feel like were being forced. Maybe its the inner rebel in me that is saying that. The project sounds like alot of fun and sounds really great. But i dont feel like it because theyre forcing me and i dont feel like it because i was not warned and i dont want to ask my parents for 5 dollars. However i will probably end up doing it anyways haha.

  5. I think it's a great cause I just don't understand it. I'm not sure how a million bones on the lawn of the white house will really affect her cause. It seemed that the whole point was to make people realize that millions are killed in genocide and I don't really understand how a bunch of bones will really get that point across. I don't like to be forced into things either. If I had the choice maybe I would join. The five dollars is kind of annoying but that isn't even the reason why I don't really want to do it. It's more of how we are forced into a project.

  6. I again agree with Jen,i guess it goes into the whole idea of the last sculpture using pictures and symbols to get your point across without using words. But again what is it going to do, the bones cant stay their forever, and where does the money go? I am really intrested in the cause because its a great one no one deserves to be killed over something they cant control. But its making me want to rebel.

  8. I agree with Jen. I don't see how this project or program or whatever you want to call it is going to get the point across. I don't want to do it and we are being forced to.

  9. I dont really care for the project because like they said it is going to take about five years to finish so the only part I am interested is the end to see the bones in front of the white house and to see what the peoples reaction will be and what kind of impact these projects have on people.

  10. I agree with Jacki and Mike C, I don't really understand what the money is for or where it goes. But it is a great cause I just feel like the approach to it is pretty trivial. I don't think that it will really stand out and make some kind of a difference. However, the fact that she is trying to get the whole world aware of what is really going on is good.

  11. We cannot be forced to do it unless....UNLESSS...unless it is worth a grade then I am all in.

  12. I agree with Jacki. How does this affect our pass or fail in bridge? Will this prove that we are prepared for college?

  13. yeah just like everyone i think that her concept is great. but i dont get how this is going to help out genocide except for the money. but everyone knows im up for a good fundraiser/charity to better the world. haha

  14. I actually don't want to do it. I think maybe there could have been a better set up of getting the point across. Because to me making a bone then dumping it in a pile says what? I mean it all doesn't make sense to me. Even if she got a million bones, who are we to try and connect it to people who died. How do we honestly know that we didn't leave a person out? I felt real forced as well to do this and it makes me even more less interested. I was all for it when a teacher explained it to me before but when I heard that it was something I had to do and then the five dollars thing is irritating as well. I just don't see what the purpose of giving five dollars to help the craft of making bones to dump on the lawn will show the lives lost by innocent people. I mean are we all going to do this for other groups of people who lost their lives as well? I'm just lost and not looking forward to it at all.

  15. Honestly, I don't understand why I might have to spend my time making a bone for people to walk on. But other than that I think that it is a nice opportunity to be able to say that I contributed to the Million Bones project. Had I had the chance to pick another project, I probably would have chosen something else. I think it's kind-of weird to make bones.

  16. I, as a teacher in bridge, also had a bit of a problem with the forced charity work. No one is for genicide, but to force someone to participate in what many call "service-learning" always makes me a bit shifty. There are many sources that state that you guys all learn better when you are asked to engage in some form of service to better the world. But I feel it may put into jeopardy your freedom. I would much rather see you all developing the knowledge to engage in the world the way you want rather than to be asked to do good and be good.

  19. i think that they are making us do this to try to show us that there are a lot of groups in college that we should get involved in and that we shouldnt turn things down right away that we should just give it a shot and then turn it down. i dont know. to me it makes sense but at the same time it doesnt.

  21. Don't these people know those 5 bucks would go butter for college then makeing bones. WE ARE COLLEGE STUDENTS, WE NEED ALL THE MONEY WE CAN.

  22. yeah the bones project i do not really understand, and all actually i for got about it. If I did understand what it was about, if it was positive. i would probally consider it.

  23. We should boycott it. They're forcing us to do it anyway.

  24. I so agree, I need that five dollars towards school rather then making a bone.

  27. I know that it's for a good cause, but sorry I'm not interested. I will participate in the project, because I have no other choice. I don't mind the money or making the bone. What I mind is that we don't have another option. Personally, I do better work when I'm interested. I guess, this is part of college we won't always be interested, and sometimes we won't have other options. Maybe this has something to do with our preparation and dedication towards college. Face it, we are in Bridge because they had doubts about us academically. So my question is are you ready to do things without having away out of it?
