Music

In the class, Kate allows us to listen to music when she is not lecturing. Some teacher believe that it helps people concentrate more on their assignment, others think that it is distracting and does not benefit the students grades. I agree with the first point. When I am listening to music, it kind-of isolates the background and allows me to pay attention to what I am doing more. Its just me and my music. There's no distractions such as someone talking in class, someone rustling through papers. When I am listening to music the thoughts just seem to pour out of my head, and sometime I relate what I am writing to the music that I am listening. Does anyone feel like it is better for them to study or pay attention to their assignment more, with or without music? Does it help you write papers like it does me?

  2. No i dont like listening to music when i am writting or anything like that because i get distracted and then i find myself having to look away from what i am doing to find a song and to find what i am looking for to listen to it. However if i am browsing the web it doesnt hurt to listen to music.

  3. I think listening to music helps my ideas to begin coming together. If I can't write I listen to music because it helps me to write. I think that I pay more attention to what I'm doing when I listen to music because like Jay said, there are no distractions. However, sometimes I'll get caught up in what I'm listening to and forget to actually do my work but usually it just helps.

  4. Sometime it helps me. I have to listen to music with no words, then i can think much metter. It's kind of weird. When i do listen to music with words then i end up typeing the word they say, word for word.

  5. It depends sometimes if I am in a really quiet environment writing a paper I don't mind the silence because it helps me concentrate, but if I am somewhere with loud noises, people talking, I lose my train of thought so I do play music to help me concentrate.

  6. I think listening to music helps my ideas flow. I can't focus to much when I hear a lot of different noises and voices becuase the conversations or just the annoying reacurring sounds itself tend to make me lose focus. When it's time for me to work on a paper or even just write poetry alone, I need some type of music that makes me think. I feel music is the true oasis in the world. Is it the lyrics that help you focus more ot the instrumental parts?

  7. I agree with Kurt. Music is my escape from everything that is going on around me. Its like my own little world haha. I love to listen to music and just think of things in my life, or maybe even come up with a song to write that kind of has the same idea as a song I'm listening to at the time. Music helps me think of everything. So my answer to the I feel better with music playing.

  11. It depends on what I'm doing. I don't really mind when I'm blogging, but I do if I'm reading or doing a paper. I get distracted with music and I zone out, and completely forget of what I'm doing. I guess it depends on the person and what you're doing. Do you get distracted by sertain things in sertain aspects?

  14. I do admit if I am listening to a song I really like I'll end up singing it which means I am now focused on something else. My head isn't focused on getting the paper done it's more like singing the song with the artist.

  15. I need music to type my papers. It increases my focus. That allows me to finish my papers faster. Music also helps me get geared to do papers.
