My favorite part about being here is, that im in the city mostly every day. People say that the city is a vary bad place to go. You wont know how it is untill you stay here or go to school here. Does any body else here, hear people say that the city is a bad place to go?
Yes, but it's only certain parts of the city that are bad, not the whole city, but there's danger everywhere in the world you go. My personal favorite part is living in the dorms, everybody on my floor is cool to hang with so I'm enjoying myself, and we all help each other with homework and stuff too. Has anybody else made any close friends in the past week?
My favorite part of the bridge program to me would be the time that I am downtown. I love the feeling of being downtown. I don't know, I just love to be in the downtown area. Many people feel the same as me I feel. There's just something about being downtown. I would have to say that is my favorite part and the fact that I finished week, and they're only 3 weeks left.
I think my favorite part of the Bridge Program is my classmates and teachers. I have two groups of friends, one that I've known since pre-school and one since sixth grade. Just when I thought I had a set group of friends I was actually shocked to see I made more being in this program. I like the way everyone connects with one another during class. And when it is time to take a break everyone is still together just hanging out, talking, laughin and just getting along. Did anyone make a friend outside their comfort zone?
OMG my fav in bridge has been living on campus. i got so much freedom its ridiculous(bling blow burr). im havin lots of fun and making new friends. Learnig alot in my classes and picking up on my subjects, yeah everything iss goin jus peachy.
im really liking the program. making new friends is always fun. i like to get to know people and their backgrounds... some of yall just make me laugh. but its a good laugh and i look forward to coming to class every day. :)
Same here favorite part has to be being in the city . . I always wanted to go to college in downtown and now I am pursuing my dream. I do not live in the dorms and commute, but I am enjoying myself still . . Anybody actually living down here not in the dorms?
I don't know if I made a friend outside of my confort zone, mainly becuase I don't know what kind of people I am attracted to. Or what kind of people are attracted to me. The people that I hang out with are all different, that's why I can't hang out with them all at the same time. They all irritate each other. Does anyone feel that they have all kinds of friends? And they can't hang out with them all at the same time.
I like bridge. If college is like this then im not nervous about a single thing. I like the feeling of being in college because its just so different. Theirs alot of teenagers in college but theirs alot that dont have that opportunity. Were some of the privledged to be getting this opportunity and i am happy to be spending it with you LOVELY INDIVIDUALS!
Mike D.: Yes! I grew up on a farm about 45 minutes north of Baltimore, MD. I one time mentioned to my nieces, who are 10 and 13, possibly taking them to Baltimore and walking around Inner Harbor, maybe going to the aquarium. They said, "I don't know. I heard the city is scary." Comments like that throw me off. This summer they came to visit Chicago, and it's the first city they've ever been to. They didn't actually seem that shocked by anything we saw or did. However, back home, I am constantly coming up against those thought processes that the city is scary. Well, the country is scary too: farm machinery, chainsaws, shotguns, wild game, large animals, and when it gets dark, there are no street lights.
My favorite part of attending the bridge program is the enviroment and the people. It's a very fun and diverse enviroment. I enjoy getting to know everyone and their unique personalities
Laurynas, Kristin and I both live in the city. It takes about 10 minutes on the train for me to get here. I actually live near North Avenue Beach, if you've ever been there. Living here is expensive, but it's nice to have the convenience and the experience.
I have all kinds of friends. You name it, i have a friend like that. It sucks to becuase i can't hang out with them all at the same time. It's mostly because they hate each other.
Yes and No Jay like at my highschool every one was pretty much cool like I have bestfriend that is white as snow, abercrombie, valley girl, blonde, and crazy and i have a bestfriend from jefferey manor we all went to mcAuley and we can all go out and just hang you just have to learn to adapt however when attitudes and personalities clash then theirs a problem!
Actually Jay I do have that problem. Because my diaper day friends and my more grammer school friends all like me because of different reasons. But those reasons make me branch to both groups. But if I ever tried to bring them both together it might clash for me. Because they have a set way of acting, talking and dressing that the other group might find crazy or stupid. So I keep them seperate.
I feel so bad for Michael and Jay. Those people you hang out with are super close minded like your going to encounter so many different types of people thats why i LOVE COLUMBIA. Everyone here is super different but we can all sit down around the table like a family and have a great conversation!
the thing that im going to miss the most about living in the country is being able to look up at the night sky on a clear night and being able to see every single star in the sky... its so beautiful. but having the smell of cow manure in the background isnt so pleasing.
I like that the instructors are very involved. Sometimes in class I feel like I'm with friends, I forget that kate and Kristen are teachers. They are outgoing and we do fun things in class. Other teachers give lectures or just in general their class is booring. Those kind of teachers make me not want to be in class. Have you had similar experiences with previous teachers?
My aunt moved to the suburbs because she didn' t want her kids to turn bad.I feel that the city, is a great place to grow up in, because you get to see both good and bad. Just because you grow up in a bad neighborhood doesnt mean that you will become bad. You choose what to do, nobody can force you into doing anything.
About taking parents into the city -- I remember when my Dad first came to visit me after I moved. He actually asked,"Are there taxis there?" and when he arrived in the city he wore a carhart everywhere. It was pretty funny.
Being from the country, I'll admit I was a little scared when I first came to the city. I remember seeing the skyline and going, "Ahhh! I'm gonna get so lost here." I love it now.
My favorite part is totally getting to come to the city everyday. I hate the country which is pretty much where I'm from. Theres nothing out there. Out here, if you can't find something to do, you're not looking hard enough.
I lived in Chicago all my life. So everything in Chicago isn't new to me at all. However i find myself engaging in the city more than I ever have before I got into the bridge. the bridge has helped me connect with different people and I think this is a great learning environment in and out of class.
My favorite part of bridge would be the location and the people. The city is my favorite place to be and I think that the people I met here are so much different then what I was used to. Going to the same high school for 4 years with the same bunch of girls gets routine and you know what to expect however by coming here, I met people and had no idea what to expect.
3. Questions must have some connection to Bridge. For example, they can deal with your books, your writing assignment, a lecture, a museum visit, a class discussion, etc.
