i like everything from Kid Kudi to Metallic. The genres that i listen to can vary from hip hop to classical and i think that helps me break out of the "average" shell. I don't believe you can restrict yourself to one type of music and be able to only like ONE brand of music. It's something out there for everyone and musicians seem to talk about any and everything today! Is there anyone who prefers one genre of music over anything else?
I love ALL types of music from country, to rock, to hip hop, to rap to pop, everything. I think that all those types of music has made me really adaptable to everyone and able to relate to everyone and everything.Music has been around since the beginning of time. People used to message other people using music. From their it has evolved into its on culture and way of living life.
I listen to all types of music, my favorite genre used to be Hip Hop but I recently started listening to more Alternative Pop type stuff like M.I.A or Santogold or N*E*R*D. Those are my faves.I don't really know how music has shaped me, but it has influenced me greatly, but not just anyone genre ya know? Different genres of music shape different cultures..........so what do you guys think is the most popular form or genre of music today????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????
Do you think theirs any real type of bad music? For example "old people" think that Rap and Hip Hop is vulgar and ruining young peoples minds...does anyone think thats true?
I like anything and everything. Sometimes the music i listen to helps me think and i can concect to the music, sometimes. Certen music i can conect to. Some of the muusic i really weird that helps me think. Over my years i've hade to listen to differnt music for makeing comershels for school. When you hear the differnt music that perople listen to, you can see why they listen to that kind of music. If your part of that culture and that kind of music you listen to every day. How can music effect people/ or help them?
I like all kinds of music. Basically any kind of music that I can relate to or that can dance to or just a tune that sounds nice and sets the mood. I don't think that I am made, or labeled by the music that I listen to. Seeing as how i like to listen to all kinds of music. So what should I suppose that says about me? That I am open for change? IDK. But music plays a HUGE role in the lives if the youth today. People try to live like the people who are singing or rapping the song that they like most of the time. They look up to them and try to be like them best they can. Sometimes this is good, sometimes this is bad. Everyone has a different experience with the music that they listen to.
i agree with k.o. like... i have almost the same music genera range. haha. like for example, when my friends and i went to the airport in milwaukee WI to take home my foreign exchange student from china, we were all sitting there and i was listening to my ipod. now my best friend nikki is stricktly alternative music. so she looks over at my ipod, and she sees that it goes from a band called Scary Kids Scaring Kids, to Hairspray the musical, to Carry Underwood, to another alternative band called Mayday Parade. does anyone else's ipod do that?
i think the most popular genre of music can be hip-hop and rock. People like Kid Cudi and Drake are bringing a new form to rap that has no boundaries. I like that the most. What genre do you think are less restricting than others?
well there is no such thing as bad music because music is self expression, its the same as saying there is bad art and you cant do put facts on opinionated or personal things
I love every kind of music besides country and screamo stuff. Personally I think both those kinds of music suck. Country not so much as metal and screamo. My favorite kinds of music are alternative, anything mainstream, and most rap. Although since joining this reggae band I must say that reggae is the shit.
I like all kinds of music. There is no way to say a favourite kind. Everything from garage rock, brit-pop like The Black Keys, The Greenhorns and the Libertines to Bob Marley and new pop type music. The music I listen to help me to shape who I am and really understand the things I like and the things I don't like. Music shapes culture because it identifies us and it enables diversity. I agree with Kurt, if my ipod is on shuffle it goes from genre to genre.
I do prefer some types of music over others. I would rather hear music that is sung rather than rap. Sometimes I like to listen to rap, but thats only when I am in the mood for it. I like to listen to music when I am in a party or trying to set the mood for a party.
I THINK THAT THERE ARE BAD MUSIC. SOMETIMES WHEN A MUSICIANS TALKS ABOUT THE DUMBEST THINGS LIKE GUCCI MANE(I LOVE HIM BUT WHAT IS HE TALKING ABOUT MOST OF THE TIME?)
I like all kinds of music from hip hop, country, rock, r&b and pop. I'll listen to Lupe Fiasco{FnF ^},Colbie Colliat and turn around and sing Ne-yo or dance around my room to FeFe Dobson or Katy Perry. I think the music I listened to has shaped me to be open-minded to various things around me. I have a wide range of close friends because of the music I choose to put on my Myspace or whats is on my Ipod. It is a simple way to branch out of your shell if your shy or just to make new friends. Although I agree some people get to wrapped up in lyrics and believe that everything they hear is true. Also that if their favorite artist does something its okay for them. So in the end mistakes are made by forgetting that Artists are entertainers. They are there to entertain you to buy from them so sometimes their actions aren't postive. Does anyone think that Rap/Hip Hop plays a big part in damaging the American youth?
I generally prefer weird stuff or stuff that takes a little thought to understand at first...like MIA, her songs are all about something that happened in home country of Sri Lanka or something to that effect, but her songs are so upbeat and happy sounding that at a first listen you wouldnt think that
I like drum and bass(DNB),Dubstep, hip hop, rap, and some rock.I really enjoy listening to my music but sometimes when I dont have it with me I dont mind listening to something else. And i gotta say i hate the radio about 90% of the time because it plays nothing but the same thing 54616541561 times a day, anyone agree?
I feel that every music kind of restricts in some sense. There are certain stereo types that go with each genre of music. There are people who come out and break those molds but until artists start to do that, these stereo types and restrictions will still be heavy. I think there is bad music but it's because I don't like it. I think screamo and country is horrible.
I PREFER MUSIC THAT TAKES YOU INTO DEEP THOUGHT THAT CAN TRANSFORMED AND INTERPRETED INTO MANY DIFFERENT MEANINGS. I FIND THAT COMMON IN MUSIC THATS ROCK LIKE COLDPLAY, RADIOHEAD AND PANIC ALSO IN HIP HOP BUT OLD SCHOOL NOT SO MUCH GUCCI MANE AND O.J THE JUICE...MORE LIL WAYNE,Q-TIP, LUPE FIASCO, AND COMMON!
I so agree with Kelly because Gucci has truly nothing to rap about. All his music is annoying to me. I will admit I've had some of his songs on my Ipod but sometimes I wonder to what in the world he is talking about!
I AGREE WITH K.O BUT AT THE SAME TIME MUSIC IS SELF EXPRESSION, AND PPL DO RELATE TO GUCCI MANE'S WEAK @$$ MUSIC LOL, BUT MUSIC IS ALL OPINIONATED, I HATE HIS MUSIC BUT YOU CANT SAY ITS BAD BECAUSE ITS SELF EXPRESSION, EXPRESSION OF HIS SELF SO SOMEBODY RELATES YOU MAY NOT BUT SOME PPL DO BUT I AGREE, GUCCI MANE IS GARBAGE
i think that the music i listen to shapes who i am because the majority of music i listen to isn't main stream. and im not a main stream kinda person. i tend to go off and do my own thing...jen and jacki can verify that. haha. ;) BUT like i was sayin. the bands i listen to arent played on the radio and the things i do arent seen on tv or in movies very often. does any one else have that same situation?
I somewhat agree with the older people on the part about how the music is ruining the younger minds today. I also agree that music is music. If it is ruining the minds of the listeners thats a choice that they chose. No one is making them listen to that music, and letting music affect your mind is a state of mind. When I am listening to a song about beating someone up I am not being possessed to go and do what the people in the song are doing. So the music isn't bad the choices that the people make after might be.
I JUST WISHED THAT PEOPLE PUT MORE THOUGHT INTO THEIR MUSIC AND NOT JUST WRITE 16 BARS TO A SIMPLE BEAT. LIKE KANYE WEST, HE PUTS SO MUCH EFFORT INTO HIS MUSIC AND IT CLICKS TO THE POINT THAT YOU CAN LISTEN TO THE SAME SONG TWO YEARS FROM NOW. IS THERE ANYONE WHO FEELS THAT CERTAIN SONGS WILL ONLY BE HOT THE TIME PERIOD ITS PUT OUT?COULD YOU LISTEN TO CERTAIN SONGS YEARS FROM NOW, WHICH ONES CAN YOU GO WITHOUT!
yea I relate a little because a lot of the hip hop I listen to isnt played on the radio, so I relate a little bit to you, I prefer alot of under rated artist in hip hop like The Cool Kids, Jay Electronica, J.Cole, Blue, Big Sean, ect....
I think theirs a certain type of music for every time of the day. In the morning you cant go down the street and bump like GUCCI or like LIL WAYNe those songs are just not for the AM, during the day like Rock is cool because some songs are really soothing and like calming. In the evening is when you can blast those songs that get you in the mood to dance and to party like DRAKE and some other Rock songs. Different music for every part of the day i always say!(that was nice and corny)
Well I disagree with the whole my bands are not played on the radio. I don't really have a favorite band or a favorite anything. I just like to sit back and coast. U know, go with the flow dudes. lol. Does anyone feel like they would rather just go with the flow of things, or always try to do things different and stand out? Which would you prefer when it comes to music?
I love Lil Wayne, but at the same time I have to agree with Delaney because I brought the Carter III and now I don't even listen to it nor is it on my Ipod as of now. After a while it got to be just that song that was hot then but I can do without now.
I THINK WITH ALOT OF RAP SONGS PEOPLE CANT WAIT FOR THE NEW SONGS FROM BIG ARTIST DUE TO WORDPLAY AND HOW THEY RIDE THE BEAT. HOWEVER AFTER A WHILE SONGS GET PLAYED OUT.I CAN STILL LISTEN TO GOLDDIGGER BY KANYE WEST THAN LOLLIPOP BY LIL WAYNE.
Oh and K.O. yeesssss I so agree with you because now when music is being written its like something you can only tolerate for that few weeks it's hot. But music to me like Kanye, Common & Lupe have meaning to them. It like clicks in your brain. And for me I relate to majority of their music so when I feel a certain way years from now I know exactly which song I would go for to relax!
K.O.!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I agree. Some people do make stupid songs just to make a buck or two. Like Khia, everyone might not know her by her name but people know her song. It goes "ma neck, ma back, lick ma"........ you know the rest. But shes a one hit wonder. Many people just be doin stuff, I wish that all songs had some other deeper kind meaning to them.
come on now guys....lets be honest...we're already to blow this popsicle stand lol jk jk Ms. Kate still gets cool point for wearing the Retro 10's though
I like music that touches my soul. I listen to that music that gives you a tingley feeling all over when you listen to it. Motivational musio can really up lift my thoughts and improve my thinking to point of enlightinment :0. I like all types of music though mainly hip hop, but if it sounds good ill listen to it.
TY is basically asking to be kicked out like ....next 5 minutes however....omg who hates ringtones? like once you hear the song a few times you start hating it...i think people reach a certain age and their phone should either remain on vibrate or get a standard ringtone. ANY TAKERS?
I'm very open minded and I like all type of music. The type of music that i listen depends on the mood that I'm in. I don't always like listening to the same type of music. Music has shaped me as a human being, because I know that with out music, dance wouldn't excist, and i wouldn't excist withought dance. Something so simple can make a major difference in your life. What completes you?
3. Questions must have some connection to Bridge. For example, they can deal with your books, your writing assignment, a lecture, a museum visit, a class discussion, etc.
i like everything from Kid Kudi to Metallic. The genres that i listen to can vary from hip hop to classical and i think that helps me break out of the "average" shell. ReplyDeleteyeah gucci mane is ok. he does say a lot of ridiculous stuff. same with gorilla zoe if anyone listens to him. they just speak nonsense half the time.
ReplyDeleteI feel that every music kind of restricts in some sense. There are certain stereo types that go with each genre of music. There are people who come out and break those molds but until artists start to do that, these stereo types and restrictions will still be heavy.

ReplyDeletemost rap songs die after a while. most people thought tha carter III was amazing. now a year later who listens to that crap?
ReplyDeleteI agree with k.o. some music should have more thought into it. It seems like some music now is just being put out there for the sake that it can be.
